Where Dublin 10Ks are run

City centre routes tend to have the biggest crowds. You're running through familiar streets with proper spectator spots — corners near pubs, bridges over the Liffey, closed roads that feel fast. The atmosphere more than compensates for any pre-race traffic stress.

Phoenix Park is flat, predictable, and ideal for a PB attempt. Wide roads, good surface, and a setting that makes the whole thing feel a bit more civilised than racing through gridlock.

Coastal routes — Clontarf, Dún Laoghaire, Bray — add scenery to the mix. Slightly more exposed to wind, but on a clear morning there's nothing better.

Outer Dublin (Fingal, South Dublin, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown) hosts the club events that fly under the radar. Smaller fields, lower key, often better value.

When do Dublin 10Ks happen?

Dublin 10Ks run nearly year-round, with the heaviest concentration from April through October. The most popular city-centre events tend to run May–September. Club events in outer Dublin happen throughout the year — some on weekday evenings in summer.

How to pick the right one

Chasing a PB? Go flat — Phoenix Park or a coastal route in calm conditions. Avoid hilly city-centre loops.

Want atmosphere? City races in summer. The bigger the field, the more life they have.

Prefer something quieter? Club-organised races in Fingal or South Dublin. Smaller fields, friendlier atmosphere, and you might actually place in your age group.
